Introduction to Manly Warringah BMX Club

Manly Warringah BMX Club is a family oriented sporting club that is open to all ages and abilities where the primary tenants are to:

  • Have fun
  • Learn new bike skills
  • Develop an appreciation for healthy competition

We hold coaching sessions on Tuesdays nights and ‘gates’ training every Thursday.  Club races are on Saturdays, generally twice per month and every year we hold the Manly Warringah BMX Open Event which generally attracts upward of 400 entrants and over 700 attendees.  The club operates 11 months of the year, taking a break over the Christmas / New Year period.

Background

The Manly Warringah BMX Club is one of the oldest BMX clubs in Australia and was the set for the legendary movie “BMX Bandits” starring Nicole Kidman.  Although its location has changed since its first inception, the club has had a home in Terrey Hills for more than 20 years.

Despite the fun oriented reputation of the club many successful riders come out of its ranks including current World Champion Brett Scruse past World #4 Zac Webb. Manly Warringah riders feature regularly at the highest level of competition on a state, national and international level, but we never forget that the most important thing is to have fun!

Our squad recently returned from the 2018 National and Oceania Championships held in Bunbury, Western Australia bringing back several trophies and awards, proving the dedication and talent of riders both young and old.

Our Track

Our track located in Terrey Hills at the JJ Melbourne Memorial Reserve. This amazing community facility is fully maintained by volunteers from the Club with the support of the Northern Beaches Council and is open for public use at all times when it isn’t being used by the club.

The track had a major upgrade in 2016 thanks to a funding grant from the local council and a lot of hard work and dedication of Club members.  As a result, the entire BMX community now recognises the Manly Warringah BMX Club as one of the best tracks in NSW and the communities of the Northern Beaches and the North Shore now has a top class facility for all to enjoy.

A 2018 funding grant, driven by the Club and supported by Northern Beaches Council, sees another addition to the club’s infrastructure in the form of an all-weather “pump track” which is being built right now and due for completion in June 2018. Currently under construction, this new addition will enable even greater use by the public and has already created a massive wave of enthusiasm throughout the BMX, mountain bike and local community.

What is BMX?

BMX (Bicycle Moto Cross) is one of the fastest growing sports in Australia and one of the only sports where the entire family (riders from 2 to 50+) can participate together and compete at the same events.

The sport of BMX racing ranges from Club level right through to State, National and World Championship and also the Olympics!

Family Involvement

BMX is not only a sport for boys and dads, girls and mums race and enjoy competition in their own age groups with other females. BMX is a family sport where great friendships can be made and the competition structure gives the opportunity to visit many new places, strengthening the family unit.

What we can offer

We have designed several marketing strategies to strengthen our relationship with partners by advertising your business to our network of people. We believe that the following options would be a good starting point for an open discussion:

  • Alignment of your business to a grass-roots, family friendly and community minded sporting organisation
  • Sponsors can display a banner/signage at our track
  • Displaying your business’s name on the club jerseys
  • Promoting your business at every opportunity at club meets and events.
  • Sponsors promoted on social media to over 800 organically acquired followers on Facebook
  • All Sponsors are advertised on our web page
  • Sponsors advertised on club email newsletters.
  • Having riding staff available for any functions to represent the club. By using the riders high profile this will entice new business.
  • Invitation to all club functions and meetings
  • Open communication to all members of the club
  • Having a direct contact with dedicated committee members to deal with any problems or questions

We strive to build mutually beneficial partnerships with both supporters of the Club, our members and the community and have good relationships with local media.
